Orangutan

This is a portrait of a male Orangutan i shot who looks as if he is actually smiling for me..He has settled in well for many years in his enclosure and after a short behavioral study, showed no signs of stress or repetitiveness. Originally from small parts of Indonesia & Malaysia, Orangutan’s face extinction due to their habitat being destroyed to make way for palm oil plantations..palm oil is used in everything from biscuits/shampoo to biodiesel..Orangutans have a lot in common with humans, the way they interact and use tools is amazing..Watching them for any length of time, reveals individuals with strong personalities that can easily reel you in and leave you in awe of the close characteristics to our own human species.
